Sveriges Historia 500 år

Allowed 12 minutes 2025

Join us on a visual and engaging journey through 500 years of Swedish history – from when Gustav Vasa took power in 1523 to today's digital and global society. With students in focus, the film tells how Sweden has been shaped by kings, war, science, migration, language, religion and technology.

We meet the power-hungry kings of the great powers, the struggling workers of the 19th century, the public housing that built welfare, and today's young people growing up in a digital society. Through dramatized scenes, narration and quick clips, history is connected to our time – how decisions made hundreds of years ago affect how we live today. Why did we become Protestants and how did industrialization affect our lives?

The film is both educational and thought-provoking – a story about change, power and people's pursuit of a better future. And most importantly: it reminds us that history is not just something that happened – it is still being written. By us.
