During the 1980s, Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev was one of the world's most influential and important people. After a decade of tensions in world politics during the Cold War, he worked to open up the Soviet Union and pursue a more peaceful policy in cooperation with the leaders of the Western world. In 1990 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work. In conversation with one of the documentary film giants, Werner Herzog, we get to see a more personal picture of the man behind the mandate and hear his own words about time in power.
