A Japanese film based on King Lear, a stubborn British pub owner and cats in the museum are some of the themes for this week's films at viddla.

TJ Ballantyne runs the tired old pub in the same manner as always, but when a group of Syrian refugees arrives in town it changes both him and his regulars. In The Old Oak old wounds and prejudices are uncovered when things change. 

We meet Nicholas Cage in a slightly different role in Dream Scenario. As a middle-aged professor in a small town he leads a quiet life, but this changes when he starts appearing involutarily in other people's dreams. 

Desperate Souls, Dark City and the Legend of the Midnight Cowboy takes us behind the scenes at the production of Midnight Cowboy (1969) and the turbulent times when the movie came out. This 2022 documentary is written, directed and produced by Nancy Buirski. 

The cats in Morrhårspatrullen are elite-cats who live in a museum protecting the paintings there. When the Mona Lisa arrives they need to take action when someone is trying to steal it. 

In the Japanese classic Ran the aged leader Hidetora works hard to convince his sons to stop the plundering and violence. The movie came out in 1985, and is directed by Akura Kurosawa. 

Chewing-gum sculptures, a wealthy gallery owner, a notorious murdercase and segregation in the south, all these are parts of Nellie May Rowe's universe in This World is Not My Own. The documentary scored 8.8 at IMDd.
