Cate Blanchett as a nun, a Hollywood film about Hollywood film production, and delightful family fantasy are some of the ingredients in this week's newly released films on Viddla.

In the Australian drama The New Boy, we see, among others, Cate Blanchett in the role of a nun at a very remote monastery in the Australian wilderness. One night, a 9-year-old Aboriginal boy arrives with a new and different way of communicating with the children and adults. Two different worlds meet and give rise to magic. The film has won several film awards.

A House Made of Splinters is a documentary from Ukraine about an orphanage for children waiting for decisions in family court cases. It is an intimate and heartbreaking portrait of vulnerable children, and an important story.

Robert De Niro is one of the actors in the movie What Just Happened, which is about two weeks in the life of a Hollywood producer with a falling star, who is trying to get his film produced.

In the British drama The Penguin Lesson, a disillusioned teacher has an unexpected encounter with a penguin on the beach. It will turn out to change his life. Steve Coogan and Jonathan Pryce play the teacher and the headmaster at the school, respectively.

The Legend of Ochi is an adventurous family film about a young girl who finds a injured Ochi cub. She decides to help it find its way home. The film is visually delightful, with strong performances from the actors playing the girl and her family members, and with beautiful music.

Director Ellen Fiske delivers an impressive documentary about Christian fundamentalists who wish to leave the religious congregation they belong to, in Leaving Jesus from 2024. The documentary is subdued and emotional, depicting a process that can be very difficult for the individual.
