Thursday premiere w.5-6

Indie comedy about a depressed teacher, biographical movie about the pilot and author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, and a heartfelt drama about a theatre-group in a high security prison, are some of the ingredients in the movie-mix this week.

Smart People is a 2008 drama featuring, among others, Dennis Quaid. The family of teacher Lawrence is falling apart after his wife's death. But there is still hope for future happiness, both for the family and the bitter teacher.

His friend is missing after a flight, and the pilot Antoine Saint-Exupery sets out to find him. The film Saint-Ex is a biographical drama about the author of the story of The Little Prince, when Guillaumet was his best friend and they both worked for the postal service between Argentina and Chile. The film is thematically and visually brilliant.

Three stories are intertwined by the same tragedy. April Skies takes place in Paris, Iceland, and Sweden. Director Pascal Payant's third film is shot with a cameraman and one sound technician on set. It is a beautiful and peculiar experience that is difficult to forget.

Divine G is wrongfully convicted and serving time in prison. He finds meaning in participating in the prison's theater group, to stay focused on resilience, humanity, and the inherent power of art to change people. Sing Sing is an award-winning docudrama.

Avveroès and Parks and The Typewriter and Other Headaches are documentaries about modern French psychiatry. How can one maintain a focus on patient rehabilitation in a system that is increasingly worn down?

Enjoy your movie-week!
