Persepolis
Tehran 1978. Marjane is eight years old and is thinking about the future, loved by her modern and cultured parents and with a special love for her grandmother. Behind her veil, Marjane fantasizes about a life as a revolutionary. When the war in Iraq starts, with bombings, kidnappings and missing relatives, Marian's revolutionary dreams prove to be problematic. To protect her, she is sent to Austria, where she experiences her second revolution: Becoming a teen, freedom, love, but also exile, loneliness and exclusion. Persepolis is based on Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical success comic album and was nominated for the best animated film at the Oscars 2007. Lauded by critics, for example Nöjesguiden's Erik Augustin Palm wrote that the film: "is not only complete in form. It is also moving, educational and accurate in its grim humour. "
