Lola Montes
This film from 1955 tells the story of the scandalous courtesan Lola Montès who went from courting the world's great artists and kings to becoming a circus attraction. In order not to get lost in all the other performances, she utilizes her time on stage to engage the audience on the journey that has taken place during her life. When Lola Montès first premiered, it was highly controversial with its artistic style and was regarded by the audience as either incomprehensible or a masterpiece. Today, the film is considered a classic and contributed to the foundation of the French new wave.
