James White
James White is a 21-year-old man in New York who lives a self-destructive life with alcohol and drug abuse. The ties between James and his mother Gail are strong. She has undergone several cancer treatments, and he has always stood by her side. When the mother seems to be getting better, James takes a trip to Mexico but returns to New York when she recovers. They have been through it before, but this time he sees in her eyes that everything is different. James is forced to become an adult and take the responsibility he has escaped from for so long. On the movie site RogerEbert.com, Brian Tallerico believes that the film is "a masterful examination of how our behavior and the excuses we make about our lives fall away under certain, life-changing conditions”. He rates the film 4 out of 5.
