Screenwriter Rick (Christian Bale) lives in Los Angeles. After the separation from his wife Nancy (Cate Blanchett), he has ended up in some kind of life crisis. He longs for something else, something beyond the life he lives, without really knowing what it is, or what to do to find it. During his existential quest, Rick participates in parties, meets several women and walks along California's deserted beaches. The film was nominated for the Golden Berlin Bear in 2015. Other roles are played by Natalie Portman, Imogen Poots, Antonio Banderas and Brian Dennehy.
