In La Familia we meet 12-year-old Pedro. He has had a tough upbringing in a suburb of Caracas with his father who is rarely at home, giving Pedro the opportunity to roam around during the days in the violent environment surrounding him. The hard streets force everyone to find their own way of survival, but when Pedro becomes involved in a violent crime, the little family is brought together. Mats Gustafsson Hedenström writes in Kommunalarbetaren that it is "heavy social realism with incredible acting by the two big roles in the film. Credible and finely tuned ", rating the film 4 out of 5.
