King of Devil's Island
The Norwegian film King of Devil's Island is a beautiful but cruel drama thriller about juvenile delinquents in a notorious penal institution located on an island in the Oslo Fjord. The plot takes place in 1915 and revolves around a young rebel who at all costs intends to flee the island, which leads to a bloody riot that is crushed by the military. The award-winning director Marius Holst's (Dragonfly) film is based on real events and has been awarded several Amanda awards, including for best film, in his home country Norway and at the film festivals in Gothenburg and Berlin. Stellan Skarsgård plays the director of the institution.
