The Skin I Live In

In Pedro Almodóvar's seductive thriller, we meet the plastic surgeon Robert Ledgard (Antonio Banderas) who, since his wife died in a car accident, has become obsessed with trying to create a new type of synthetic skin that can withstand high temperatures. Robert lives in a large house in Toledo with his test subject, the beautiful and mysterious Vera. One day, a man on the run from the police knocks on the door. This sets off a frightening chain of events where nothing is what it seems and everyone has something to hide. Jason Meredith notes in Cinema that: “The skin I live in is a masterpiece, Almodóvar a full-blooded genius! You must see this movie!" The film was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film in 2012.
