A corrupt politician ends up in the hands of a Mafia boss after an underaged prostitute dies of an overdose. The Mafia wants to turn Rome's port into a new Las Vegas and presses the politician to exploit his position in Parliament to make it happen. It is the beginning of a violent development that over the next seven days will lead all the way to the Vatican. Björn G Stenberg at Upsala Nya Tidning writes: "[The director Stefano Sollima] is constantly investing in an aesthetically complete cinematography where he also dares to pause in the frame, meticulously chosen music and sparse but effective dialogue". He has previously made the television series Gomorrah and Suburra has also been adapted to a TV series.
