In Tjenare kungen, we get to go along on a nostalgic journey back to the 80's. The year is 1984 and the 19-year-old punk Abra can not live in the little town in the countryside, where she is called punk whore and gets her mowhawk demolished. When Abra meets Millan at a concert, she goes along to Gothenburg and moves in with her. The dreams of starting her own punk band - Tjenare kungen - take off. The road to the first single, to be released at Christmas, is of course a crooked journey, both for the band and for Abra personally. "A poignant teenage story" and "Ulf Malmros aces both the feel of the timea and the details", writes Karoline Eriksson in Svenska Dagbladet and in Filmkrönikan, Andreas Degerhammar thinks that "Tjenare kungen is a pure happy pill." Director Ulf Malmros, was awarded a Golden Bagge for best director.
