I Am Not a Witch
In this odd story by feature film debuting Welsh-Zambian director Rungano Nyonis, we follow 9-year-old Shula. After being caught looking at a falling woman, she is accused of witchcraft and, in line with the current practice in the city, she is sentenced to chose between turning into a goat or being sent to a witch camp. She chooses the latter and is forced to work for the local politician Mr. Banda. Fredrik Sahlin writes in Kulturnyheterna that the film is a “nice odd mix of dry humor, magical realism and relevant criticism of society”, rating the film 4 out of 5.
