The Rum Diary

The rum diary is based on the mythical American journalist Hunter S. Thompson unpublished novel with the same name. Thompson's alter ego, journalist Paul Kemp, is played by Johnny Depp. The inspiration for the autobiographical and alcoholic book comes from Thompsons own experiences as a journalist in Puerto Rico in the 1960s.
