What Maisie knew
A modern version of Henry James classic novel from 1897. The narrator's perspective is 6-year-old Maisie. Her parents, rock star Susanna and the art dealer Beale who had a stormy marriage decide to divorce. Maisie is stuck in the middle of her parent’s bitter custody disputes. Both Susanna and Beale get married quickly again to be stronger in the custody case. A case where none of them care about Maisie. Maisie relies on the parents' new partners, her former nanny Margo, and the young bartender Lincoln. Sheila O'Malley on RogerEbert.com praises the actors and finds that the film is "a painful and sometimes violently annoying movie where a sensible sense of horror: What effect will these events have on Maisie when she grows up? Is there anyone who cares?"
