Gia Coppola's debut film Palo Alto is based on James Franco's collection of short stories with the same title. The film is about high school students Teddy (Jack Kilmer), April (Emma Roberts), Fred (Nat Wolff from Sooner or Later I Explode) and Emily (Zoe Levin) who are all looking for something to do in Palo Alto's boring suburban environment . April is lost and drawn between an attraction to her older football coach and an innocent love affair with Teddy – a troubled skater whose friend Fred is losing his grip. The equally lost Emily uses sex instead to get confirmation. “Nice, well-played and stimulating.
