A Touch of Sin
The film is based on a true story and shows the fate of four people in today's China, a society where the rapid economic development has brought an epidemic of violence to the country. An impoverished miner takes action against his corrupted village leaders. A rootless migrant worker discovers what endless possibilities a gun can offer. A cute receptionist on a luxury brothel has had enough when a wealthy customer assaults her. A young factory worker goes from job to job in hope of a better life. Björn G Stenberg writes in Upsala Nya Tidning: "The director Jia Zhangke has made an intensly moving reflection on China today. It’s a dark portrait that surprises me that it could be done in the country”. Awarded Best Screenplay at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.
