World War II is raging, and the British Channel Island of Jersey is occupied by the Germans. The shop owner and resistance woman Louisa Gould has lost one of her sons in battle. When a Russian prisoner of war manages to escape from a Nazi labor camps and looks for somewhere to go, Louisa hides him in her home, even though she knows it risks the lives of both her and her family.
