The war classic All Quiet on the Western Front takes place in Germany during the First World War in 1914. Paul Baumer, who has just graduated from high school, is looking forward to be a soldier in the war with his friends, as they await a great adventure. Once they are there and have to participate in the war for real, they realize that the reality was far from what they expected. The film won a Primetime Emmy for Best Picture Editing and a Golden Globe for Best Picture in 1980.
