Son of Saul
Director László Nemes’ debut film Son of Saul is a moving drama that takes place in Auschwitz, where the Hungarian-Jewish prisoner Saul Ausländer works with burning the bodies of everyone who died in the gas chambers. Saul is convinced that one of the victims is his own son and he does everything he can to find a rabbi who can give the son a worthy funeral. "It's the first time a movie makes me feel the atmosphere of the industrial massacre," writes Hynek Pallas in SvD and rates it the second highest score. The film won an Oscar for Best Foreign Film and has also won the Jury's Great Prize and Critics Prize in Cannes.
