Inside an isolated castle in the 1950s Tuscany lives Jakob. A young heir who for some reason does not speak. Verena, a young but determined nurse, travels there to help him. But the more she tries to help the young boy, the more concealed in the castle's old secrets she becomes. Finally, Verena begins to suspect that there is something deeply worrying about Jakob's silence. In order to relieve Jacob of what now seems to have taken his speech, she has to confront an otherworldly persona, that in addition seems to be very close to herself.
