Burning

15 yrs 148 minutes 2018 7.4

This South Korean drama is based on the novel Barn burning by Haruki Murakami. We get to know the diversity worker and actress Hae-mi, and the educated and unemployed author Jong-su. They grew up in the same neighborhood but have not seen each other for many years, but suddenly one day they meet each other in a crowd and Hae-mi asks Jong-su if he can take care of her cat while she is away. Once back, Hae-mi has fallen in love with the rich man Ben, which Jong-su thinks is tough since he is in love with Hae-mi himself. But when Jong-Su gets to know Bens secret, everything changes. "The class difference that appears as a large, uncomfortable elephant in the room every time Hae-mi and Jong-su hang out with Ben and his privileged friends constitutes a large part of the film's basic theme." Writes Miranda Sigander in Corren.se. The film has been awarded several prestigious awards, including awards and a nomination in Cannes Filmfestival
