Te Ata is the true story of one of the greatest native American actresses. Mary Thompson Fisher was born in 1895 in a reservation in Oklahoma and grew up with the Chickasaw people's songs and stories. During college she was encouraged to perform these stories on stage and after attending theater school she moved to New York, where she played on Broadway. At the top of her career, she performed for European royalty and President Roosevelt in the White House.
