Through a Glass Darkly
At the Academy Awards in 1963, Ingmar Bergman was awarded an Oscar for the second time. This time around, he won the category Best film foregin language film. Through a Glass Darkly is about a shattered family who reunites for a day on an isolated summer island. A father, a son, a daughter and her husband. Everyone is a captive in their own mind and everyone conceals a deeply hidden need for contact. This need and their longing for tenderness will soon lead to painful showdowns.
