The Silence

15 yrs 96 minutes 1963 7.7

In a foreign country somewhere in Europe there are two sisters and one little boy. They were on their way to vacation but when one sister got sick, they had to take in to a hotel. Now they are stuck with each other in the stifling heat of a country where they do not understand a word. In addition, the contrasting personalities of the sisters starts to show and the tension between them is getting loaded. The little boy flees the increasingly tensioned atmosphere and goes out to the corridors to settle his curiosity. The Silence woke a big debate when released because of its sexual implications. Today, it is considered to have contributed to liberalizing the Swedish film censorship.
