Young teenage girl Ava lives with her family in Teheran. Her life revolves around her friends, school and her dreams of becoming a violinist. But when her parents suspect that she is seeing a boy, everything starts to change. They begin to check everything she does, and her mother brings her to a gynecologist, which make her feel angry and offended. She starts to rebel against the rules and limitations that other people and society put on her life. Ava is Sadaf Foroughi’s debut as director and is based on her own experiences. The film received an honorary mention at the Toronto Film Festival in 2017.
