42-year-old Isaac Davis (Woody Allen) has just quit his job as a half-hearted writer to a bad TV-show in order to focus on his own writing career. A decision he regrets immediately after. His life is full of unsuccessful relationships. His ex-wife Jill (Meryl Streep) is writing a book of her own about their failed marriage, he is in a relationship with a 17-year-old girl named Tracy (Mariel Hemingway) who is still in high school, and when he meets his best friend’s mistress Mary (Diane Keaton) he falls hopelessly in love with her. The film was nominated for two Oscars and won a BAFTA for Best Film in 1980.
