One-eyed Matt is called "freak" by his classmates and he doesn't have it easy in school, but when he meets Jill everything changes. She is smart, funny and fearless – exactly what Matt needs. Jill is also considered a "freak" because of her overweight and the couple finds strength in each other. But when Jill starts college and moves to the other side of the country, their relationship is exposed to unexpected challenges. When Matt visits Jill he discovers that she has lost weight and changed, and he has difficulty taking that. Jill, in turn, does not know if Matt really is the love of her life, maybe she wants something else now? For who are they really, and what do everyone else expect them to be?
