Director Lou Jeunet presents a romantic and erotic drama based on the romance between writer Marie de Heredia and poet and photographer Pierre Louÿs. In Paris in 1895, Henri and Pierre meet Marie and both fall in love with her. Marie, for financial reasons, chooses to marry Henri, even though she does not love him. Pierre escapes with his unhappiness and returns to Paris only a year later. Marie and Pierre resume their slumbering flirtation, which becomes the beginning of an affair full of passion, desire, jealousy and photography. The film is both written and directed by a female film team.
