The young Slovakian Mirka is waiting in Vienna for the British businessman Michael whose wife has an affair with a Brazilian photographer, whos girlfriend in turn has had enough and is on a plane home. Director Fernando Meirelles links characters from different cities and countries in a vivid, suspenseful and deeply moving tale of love in the 21st century. Desire is the focus, and the realization that the choices we make affect others and ourselves in ways that can not always be foreseen.
